The origin of the "Potemkin Village"
« on: August 07, 2010, 10:07:38 PM »
Number 10 on the weirdest government secrets was a faux cityscape built in Russia by Grigory Potyomkin to impress Catherine the Great.  His name was the origin of the "Potemkin Village".  I admit, though, that I had not heard that word before.

"Already long ago, from when we sold our vote to no man, the People have abdicated our duties; for the People who once upon a time handed out military command, high civil office, legions — everything, now restrains itself and anxiously hopes for just two things: bread and circuses" ~Juvenal
