I would encourage everyone to visit a war cemetery if they get to Europe.  The American ones are generally good but the Brits do it better; the best description of a British war cemetery I have heard is that they are a "little corner of England transplanted to the continent."  I would also suggest that everybody try to visit a German war cemetery as well.  The German cemetery in Normandy is one of the most solemn cemeteries I have ever seen and it is probably one of the least visited as well.
