US should return stolen land to Indian tribes, says United Nations. I did not know whether to laugh or cry after reading this article. First of all, I don't understand what a U.N. Envoy is doing in America to begin with. But then I started to wonder if some of it idiots in Congress will actually take this guy serious, and the answer to that is probably yes. I can see some of the American leaders on the Left starting to talk about righting historical wrongs, but we will see. Hopefully, this report isn't worth the paper it's printed on because it sets a horrible precedent.
One problem with “righting” historical “wrongs” is simply, where do you stop? Should the Istanbul (and all of Turkey) be forced to be returned to Christian hands? Should the papal states be restored to the hands of the pope? Once we start going back through history, we realize that while issues of ownership are not always fair (according to our standards), they are what they are and there's not much we can do about them now.
