The top ten iconic photos of WWII. I think the one of Hitler walking in front of the Eiffel tower nails the sense of that whole decade or perhaps Capa's D-Day photo.
I think an iconic video of the time is that one of the Germans marching in front of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. I'm sure you've seen it.
Two I remember that made a contemporary impact was a photo of a Chinese baby crying in the rubble and another of a Frenchman weeping as Nazi troops marched by. According to some sources on WWII propaganda, the baby was placed there by the photographer, and the Frenchman was a fascist weeping for joy.
