The Bristol, Rhode Island 4th of July parade is the (allegedly) oldest in the country. Continuously going since 1785. (I've seen it twice)Official Web Site of the Bristol Fourth of July CommitteeIs this really true or just a "marketing" claim? What are some other old parades/celebrations? I would imagine the Boston and Washington D.C. celebrations have some history.
Well really, if there were an older parade it would only be a few years older. If you think that there wouldn't have been parades going on while the Revolutionary War was still going on, it would be hard to have a parade going back before 1785.
I checked their web site and they’re still going strong this year. That makes 231 years!
