Recently the criminal trials for the Old Bailey (in England) were released in online form, covering the years 1674 to 1913. This could be a treasure trove for historical research. http://www.oldbaileyonline.org/FYI the site was running very slowly when I went to it. Over time I'm sure it will be running up to speed.
