Apparently the Romans lost all kinds of strange stuff in their public bathing places too.
The stuff found in the drains of Roman baths ranges from ladies jewelry to teeth and scalpels. I can just picture a guy getting his teeth pulled while a woman lounges not far off with here arms covered in expensive bangles and armbands.
What I would not give for the opportunity to spend one week in Ancient Rome just to see what it was like. Of course, I would want to be at least an equestrian else it was probably pretty miserable.
