Here are some sites for recipes for some supposedly authentic Thanksgiving dishes:Martha Stewart's siteThe Heart of New EnglandRecipes from Plimouth PlantationI'm still looking for a recipe for something I'm going to make for Thanksgiving dinner.  I'm not sure that any of these colonial-era recipes would be good for an actual dinner, though they might be good to try out on some other occasion.  Problem is that I'm not sure how flavorful these older dishes might be.  I get the feeling that culinary preparation is one thing that mankind has advanced at over previous generations.

My wife will love checking those out. She's loves historical cooking….sometimes for the good…. sometimes for the ugly….. and sometimes for the bad. 😀

I updated the links in my first post as some of them had died over the past year.  Someone let me know if you have made any colonial recipes in the past, for Thanksgiving or some other occasion.

Have one simmering right now.  A variation on chilli, it features pork butt, and a lot of different kinds peppers.  Pork butt must be seared, then cooked (braised) slowly. . .  It's all good.  Mixed with onions, garlic, and quality spices, you've got some good eats going on.

Just in time, Thanksgiving is just around the corner. I may give a few of these a try!
