As you probably know a Pastor, Terry Jones, plans to organise a kind of auto-da-f? on 9/11. This small US church says it will defy international condemnation and go ahead with plans to burn copies of the Koran on the 9/11 anniversary. The Dove World Outreach Center claims that as an American Christian he (Terry Jones) has a right to burn Islam's holy book because it is “full of lies”.How far a religion can go?http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-11226352http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-11223457

First of all, I don't agree with what they're doing.  I don't think it's right to intentionally provoke people like this, and I really hope the guy decides not to do the burning.  Second, I do think that the uproar over this is overblown.  Christianity is regularly stepped on in the United States, but we don't hear about it in the news (except in rare circumstances), but we don't hear much about politicians making acts of solidarity with Christians.  The difference here is obvious – when Christians are insulted, they will bear it.  They may speak out against it, but they will bear it.  When Islam is stepped on, the response is that American flags are burned, rioting goes on, and so forth.  Fears about reprisals against American troops, etc.  If Islam is truly a religion of peace, then Muslims should express their dismay at the burning, but we certainly should not expect violence – or even deaths – resulting from this.  I guess we will find out soon enough.

+1.  Events like this and the cartoon brouhaha from a few years ago highlight the difference between the Western and Muslim worlds.

I do agree and my intention isn't to target Christian's religion only but more about how far a religion can interfere with politics and limitation of powers

3,000 people were burned and crushed beyond recognition by Muslims.  When the president cares more about that than he does about burning 200 korans, let me know.

Thankfully, he called off the burning.  Now the question becomes – will the mosque be moved away from Ground Zero?

Don't hold your breath for the Mosque to be moved.  I don't see it happening anymore than I see Nancy Pelosi agreeing that abortion is wrong. Here the builder of the Ground Zero Mosque disputes any deal, Trump has also offered to buy the site to keep a Mosque from being built there.  And finally, The Westboro Baptist Church has said that if Pastor Jones doesn't burn Korans, they will.  The comi-tragedy of the mosque and koran burning continues.

It looks like your post was the first on this site to mention Trump by name.  Funny how it holds a place in history given the man’s ascent after 2010.
