I recently got an iPod touch and got the ereader app for it. I want to download some good historical books for it so that I'll have them when I travel or whatnot. What historical works would fill your top ten list if you had to make one? I'm thinking of public domain texts, which are free.

I would check the project Gutenberg website, Project Gutenberg  they have a pretty big selection of public domain books for free, many of them are also formatted as epubs and not just text files and pdf's.

Yeah that's where I get some of them from, but there are so many to choose from.

Have you seen this cite?http://www.archive.org/details/cu31924026613400 This link takes you directly to a text I just downloaded, but you can navigate around to search for others.  I got more than just a few from there.

Thanks – it looks like I can download the epub version of those books to my iPod for reading.  A lot of good books there.
