I'm wondering about the relationship between the Gauls and the Greeks, particularly in the 3rd century B.C.  Were there major battles during this time between the two groups?

I did not think the Gauls had migrated far enough south that early to come into conflict with the Greeks.  I thought they only came south later during the Roman period.

Perhaps the Gauls did not migrate south, but the Greeks did colonize areas of Gaul.  The Gauls invaded northern parts of Greece around 280 BC and had major battles at Thermopylae and Delphi.

Learn something every day, I guess.  I did not know that, or I did and it just did not register.

Ok, after posting that I thought the answer might have around Marseilles where the Greeks had a colony/colonies.  I didn't know that that Gauls invaded northern Greece, however.  That might be it.

You're right. In Asia Minor the Celts founded the kingdom of Galatia. Even Alexander the Great received delegations of Celts living near the Adriatic and in 279 BC, the Celts sacked Delphi in Greece. http://history-world.org/celts.htm
