Yes Israel has a right to rebuild their temple, from right of conquest standpoint and from the historical standpoint that it was there originally anyway.  However, Israel has to weigh the ramifications of what rebuilding the temple might be.  It would create a controversial firestorm in the region and may ignite war on an immense scale.  So it is also a national security issue at the same time.  Odd huh?

Have you ever heard that the Israelis would like to rebuild the temple?  That seems like it would have huge consequences, not to mention the fact that something would have to be done to the Dome of the Rock.  I have never heard of such talk before, but if you have, please let me know.

The Orthodox sects are clamoring for a return to Temple worship.  There are some considerations for a new temple to be built and protected under the U.N. with the Dome of the Rock.  How this would work I don't know.
