I will be watching as many games as possible.  The US has a good chance in their group, especially since England will be missing Beckham because of injury.

I wonder why in the US ppl keep calling soccer what is instead real football and are calling football what is in fact a kind of rugby ???Football is a game about a ball and foot whilst rugby it's about a ball and foot with hand-playing …

Because American football (is that better?) is not at all like rugby.

Artist Frederic Remington is said to have gone to slaughter houses to smear blood on his uniform to intimidate the other team when he played college football.

And Garibaldi went with red shirts for a similar reason, no?

Nah, the red shirts camouflaged the pasta sauce stains.

Little background about England.  Well, it's a scandal really.  English player John Terry (who is married) fooled around with a teammate's wife or girlfriend back at the beginning of the year.  I'm not sure if the other guy is on this World Cup team with him.  I hope England loses…..again.

They tied and all the commentators on the German channel were shocked.  How could England not have smoked America?  I have to say the American goalie is good.  France tied against Uruguay as well 0:0  which is also kind of an upset.  We are getting ready to leave the house to watch the German game downtown where they have set up a huge screen and to drink beer of course.

That sounds like fun.  When the World Cup comes around, it's about the only time I watch soccer on TV, but having played for many years I am still a fan of the game.  I agree that the American goalie was quite good.  While it bothers me that soccer players almost universally overreact when they get brushed and fall to the ground, I think when Howard got cleated in the chest that must have hurt pretty badly.

One of the commentators yesterday said Howard is the best goalie in the world.  That's a pretty big compliment!
