I always yell out “Acting!!, Master Thespian” like the old SNL skit when a soccer player acts like he is hurt and it invariably annoys both my wife and anybody else around.  I have never seen such artfully faked looks of anguish as you see on Soccer players faces.BTW, Germany won 4-0 yesterday and we watched it downtown on a big screen.  The beer flowed freely and every goal is celebrated almost excessively.  I have often aid that because Germans cant be proud of their country they overreact to soccer.  World Cup time is about the only time you see masses of German flags come out and get the feel that Germans are actually proud to be German.  I would equate to what July 4th or Veteran's Day celebrations are like back home.Needless to say, I too find the World Cup exciting.

Notice who is advacning to the group of 16 and who is not? ;D  I must admit, I have become somewhat of a soccer fan since I am married to a German. If the French players concentrated more on playing le Fus and less time arguing they may have advanced too.  Seems they never recovered from losing to Mexico and fell apart after that.

What the French team did, is totally unacceptable for so-called professionals. No excuse at all !

I agree, the French Team could have made a serious run at the World Cup this year but have sadly ruined it for themselves.  Ribery alone is an outstanding player.  I will admit I only know about him because he sia star for FC Bayern the Bundesliga team I love to hate, I am a FC Nurnberg fan myself.

Ireland would have done much better without Henry's hand. The problem with the French team is the lack of “spirit”. Shame on them.

I was watching the game when I smelled a stench. Oh, nevermind, that's just the French.

I was in France a few weeks ago and ate at a place called the Buffalo Grill, it was very campy but the steaks were outstanding.  I cannot get steak that good in Germany unless I cook it myself. You know, this thread should probably be split where we started talking about the World Cup since soccer and football are two completely different sports.

I guess it has a word: flopping – and the U.S. coach doesn't look kindly on it.

I thought the America game was good.  America was simply out-played is all.  They gave it their best.  Luckily now I am free to root for Germany without angering my wife were the US and Germany to meet in the semi-finals and I rooted for America while she rooted for Germany.  Talk about civil-war. ;D
