Who is this man?  Hints will come later if no one gets it, but the picture shows a lot of information.

Aha! Mitchell paige!  From Wikipedia:  He received this most prestigious military honor awarded by the United States of America for his actions at the Battle of Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands on October 26, 1942, where, after all other soldiers in his platoon were killed or wounded, he operated four machine guns, singlehandedly stopping an entire Japanese regiment.

Correct!  Very good.  He also has a GI Joe with his name. http://cgi.ebay.com/GI-JOE-MITCHELL-PAIGE-WWII-FIGURE_W0QQitemZ220056065626QQihZ012QQcategoryZ1168QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Your own GI Joe! Well skiguy that was a good one, but it took a couple of hints to get it.

I didn't realize that Mitchell Paige was a well-known figure.  I had written a post about him after I saw a show with him on it that really impressed me.  Nobody had responded to the post though….  😥

Sorry, Phid. I didn't see it until you pointed it out.    Since you posted that, you should have got this.

Well, in my defense I saw the show back around February.  Also, if you had put up the photo of the actor who played Mitchell Paige in the re-enactment, I might have gotten it. 36_1_19.gif
