There are a few sites out there where you can arrange post exchanges. It's a decent way of bringing new ideas in even if it's not for the long term. The problem with what I recently experienced was that I posted on the guy's forum over a few days and responded to him publicly and by PM and he didn't respond to me. Now he says that he never agreed to the deal and therefore he doesn't owe me anything. I suppose it's more of the principle that annoys me. Probably not a big deal in the scheme of things….just letting off the steam of injustice.
How do you think we could get back some members who have posted regularly in the past but have not been on in a while?
I sent out an all-hands newsletter a week or two ago to remind people. Some of the earlier posters on here did post exchanges for me, so in that sense they're more like mercenaries and won't be back unless there's a quid pro quo.
This forum is going to have to piggyback another source I'm afraid, just like my Christian Legacies Forum. I'm hoping NJO and Gunsandall will provide such a source for this forum eventually. I really want to see this forum succeed, and I haven't started nearly enough topics here, but my time has been limited lately to my other sites and my work. Hopefully this will change down the road. There is too much potential here to let it go to waste. 😉
Ultimately the way I'd like it to piggy back on other sites is by creating various “feature” sites on historical topics at different domains. For example, I have my Great-Awakening.com site which directs people here if they want to discuss the GA. I have long been interested in developing other sites dedicated to topics which might not be discussed in length or very well in other sites. The way I had been planning on doing this was by researching a topic and writing a paper on it and then using the text as the basis for the site. Unfortunately (and I'm sure you know how it goes) you start getting involved in another direction of web development and pretty soon you're off in some other direction with web activities.

Yes that's exactly what has happened to me. I started humpteen million projects and most have died off with neglect while two have “taken.” NJO and Gunsandall will continue to grow I believe, but Christian Legacies is in a holding pattern, while DarkLordofConservatism.com is pretty much DOA. 😀
