The Tea Party movement is much bigger than Sarah Palin.  There are many people like me who would not vote for Sarah but would vote for the Tea Party.  I still respect her opinion though.I don't dispute her star power or that her endorsement can make the difference.  i do however think it is still an open question of whether she can get the party machinery to change direction.  She is still getting plenty of push back from the old gaurd.  I think the tipping point will be how many Tea Party candidates get elected.  If all or even most do then yes you will be correct, if not then I think the party will subside into its old self because obviously the new did not work.  I hope you are correct and she has such an effect that I can proudly claim to be conservative and Republican in the same breath.   I am not holding my breath though.

Don't get your hopes up on Sarah.  She only has so much pull.  At the end of the day, if she wants a place at the GOP table, she will have to reconcile with the establishment or else they will isolate her and move on.

That is true.  Unfortunately, almost any politician has to reconcile with the establishment.  That's why no matter how good voters think a candidate will be as president, he/she will always disappoint them.

Oh ye of little faith…Sarah Palin does not have to reconcile with the establishment, she will transform it. (as she already has been doing that the past year).  Do not underestimate her power and influence!

“Idol's feet of clay” (Daniel 2:31-33) I don't want to be sarcastic here but don't you think that comparison can be used about the GOP ?  :-Mike Castle is a direct descendant of Benjamin Franklin and was Governor of Delaware twice ! (not a kind of newbie)

Are you referring to my post, or the previous non-believers?

Not at all, just a thought I had while thinking about the last surprising TP success.

I seem to remember hearing Democrat boosters saying essentially the exact same thing about Obama during the Presidential campaign.  I think all any of us are saying in regards to Palin is do not put her so high on the pedestal that she cannot match expectations.  I am not saying lowball them either.  I just think we should have a realistic appraisal of how much effect any ONE person can have in the political environment of the US and set reasonable achievable goals.  I personally would like to see a balanced budget Amendment and think that one thing would be huge achievement.

No they did not.  All that was happening was “an anybody but Bush” sentiment, along with a rise in Leftist elitism.  They weren't out to transform the Democrat party.  And remember, the media was fully on board.  Republicans do not have the media on their side.Palin is not perfect nor can she be the lone savior. But if we're looking for a Republican leader, she's been staring us right in the face since 2008.  There is no denying her ability, popularity, influence, Conservative authenticity, and leadership.  Who else in the Republican party can currently make this claim? If she runs, it will be the first time in my life that I volunteer to work on someone's campaign.  My primary hope is that she will win and my secondary hope is that she and her husband will invite me snowmobiling or elk hunting.  ;D

If it was all “anti-Bush”, which I grant you much of it was, then what was all the talk of Hope and Change?  We idolize anyone at our own risk.Don't get me wrong, I like Palin.  I just don't think she is the next George Washington or Abe Lincoln.  No doubt that is just more of my cynicism.

Thatcher maybe.  One thing is certain, she has proven executive experience.  I thought it was despicable the way the democrats threw ethics charges at her and distracted her from performing her office in Alaska.

I think the media attacks were far worse, especially the personal ones.  But unlike pres. Hopeless, she sure has thick skin.
