    This gathering place was just found a few years ago.  According to the story, it was picked at least in part for its acoustics.Archaeologists to probe Sherwood Forest's 'Thing'

    I hope they do some experiments to see how far voices there travel. It wouldn't take too much, and it would rally add to it.

    Welcome Kelvin!Things, or ting or ding were places where Vikings and and other early pagans performed religious ceremonies.  They were picked in part because the acoustics of the location was thought to make their entreaties louder and therefor more easily heard by the gods.They also make pretty good Amphitheaters.
