Finally saw it a couple of weeks ago and I thought it was pretty good film but I would not recommend showing it in a history class.  There is just a little bit too much dramatic license in the movie.

Most Hollyweird pics fit this bill, though I did show How The West Was Won each year in my middle school US class.  ;D

Hated the movie–Tom was terrible–a waste of time–I would have been better off washing my hair.

I finally got around to seeing Valkyrie a few nights ago.  I enjoyed it, though I had to check out just how much of it was based on Hollywood liberties than on fact.  From what I read, it was fairly consistent with the historical account, though obviously not entirely.  Anyone else see it?  Did you enjoy it?

I saw it… agreed… some hisotrical liberties, but nothing too far fetched. I thought Tom Cruise did an OK job in the role, not sure who would have portrayed the role better, but I came away at least not feeling like I was ripped off… say with something like “The Red Baron”…

On an unrelated note, when I was in Rome a few years ago I was surprised to discover that the Catholic church is still selling indulgences.  This is a practice I had thought stoppped a few hundred years ago, but we happened upon a cathedral where you could purchase an indulgence.  I was so surprised I took a picture of the sign, which I cannot find any more.

Catholics may be able to earn “indulgences” partly by following the Pope's Twitter feed, it's been reported. For which of these activities are indulgences not granted?1. Climbing Santa Scala on knees?2. Watching Pope's TV mass?3. Pilgrimage to Lourdes?Find more here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-magazine-monitor-23367641

I have found Cruise to be unwatchable. Will he ever learn to breathe through his nose?  ;D

Yes, they were selling them at St. John Lateran.  Also called St John's outside the Walls.
