Anybody else read Eco’s stuff? He wrote “The Name of the Rose” among others. I’ve read all of his novels and they’re pretty awesom, IMO. His mastery of history and people and weaving narratives is unmatched.

I have never read his books, but I have seen The Name of the Rose, which I thought had a very intriguing storyline. Didn’t Eco have some non fiction-authoring job before he wrote that book?

His name sounds like Nietzsche’s Ecce Homo.

Or “Ecco L’Uomo” (look at the man) – Pilate’s words, I believe.

Non-fiction writing would be one way to put it. He’s a professor at the University of Bolgna (I think) and has a PhD in semiotics. He’s probably just about the most educated man on the planet and he’s pretty smart to boot.
