I'm new to this forum and from the posts I've read, I'm happy to have registered. I'm in the process of getting my degree in History by night and by day, I work as a bookkeeper. Please bear with me if I ask questions or make comments that the answers appear obvious to as I will be the first to admit I am a novice in this subject but I have the desire to learn and as I've stressed repeatedly to my daughters, having the desire to learn is half the battle.

Welcome, BensGal, we're glad to have you here!  Don't worry if your questions or comments are “novice” or “obvious”….a number of us are in the same boat to one degree or another!  And sometimes even the most simple questions about history are the most fundamentally important, so have no worries.By the way, isn't “bookkeeper” about the only word in the English language with three consecutive double letters in it (oo/kk/ee)?

Welcome, bensgal.  Glad to see another student.  Jump right in! What history courses have you taken so far?  I just started school myself.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. The classes I've taken so far are: Early Western Civilization and this semester, Early American History which I'm enjoying immensely. I also tossed in an Intro to Religious Studies this semester which has been somewhat “different” but my semester is nearing its end and I'll finish it by writing a paper on my religion which must encompass the seven dimensions of religion ???LOL, yes, isn't “bookkeeper” an odd word? More so now-a-days since the last time I actually handled a book or ledger was 20 years ago. With the advent of computers and accounting software, everything is can be computed and stored by my trusty harddrive!

Welcome aboard!  I almost completed by Master's in History, but I had to put it on hold for now.  Glad to see a new face posting here.  Phid's forum is a well kept secret it would seem, but perhaps it won't be so secret much longer.

Looks like maybe the place to check in…I'm a lifelong student of history.  Received my BA in History from Davidson College back in the '80s, spent a lifetime or two on active duty with the Marines and am now pursuing a MA in Military History from American Military University.  Although I've been a lifelong student of the American Civil War, I'm now focusing my grad studies on WWII.  Looks like there is a wide diversity of interests and quality posts here — look forward to learning a lot!Saw some discussion on how people find this site, well, I was referred by a fellow AMU student.Mike
