The bombing of citizens, though a shame, was though to help bring an end to the war.  The attacked citizens would rise up and demand their government cease their hostilities.  Unfortunatly that did not happen.  In England, during the Battle of Britain, the German bombing of London had the opposite affect.  The citizens banded together even stronger agains the Germans. One of the reasons the atomic bombs worked was the fact that so much devistation could be caused by one weapon carried by one aircraft.  Before that it took hundreds of bombers and thousands of bombs.  You had to believe that the Japanese thought that there were hundreds more atomic bombs waiting in the bellies of B-29s not far away.

Well the Vinland Sagas are the text that started the chase to confirm that Leif Erikson made his way to Newfoundland.  Some archeology places a short termed settlement there.  Now realize that there may have been rumor that America did exit when C2 decited to make his voyage.  I'll bet he hoped that the landmass did not extend that far south as it would (and did) impede his trip to the Far East!

There are some that believe that Arthur could have been a Roman General.  The movie “King Athur” is based on that line of thought.  Could be some truth if you think about it.

I think Ireland has a lot to offer archeologically.  The Vikings may not have infiltrated that island as bad as Britain but I'll bet a lot more is preserved there.

By the time the Romans left Britain, Britain was Romanized.  And there really wasn't a lot of Romans there to begin with.  Though they did bring many Governors and such and a majority of the legionary leadership was Mediterranean, much of the forces in Britain were Britains doing their service  in the army.  And Rome did not leave Britain because they could not defend their rule there.  The Roman resources were pulled from Britain to defent Roman rule in mainland Europe.  Britain was abaondoned! and they took all their knowledge with them…hence the beginning of the Dark Ages.

I would report all “artifacts” to some authority.  While there are legal sales of such items, there is a vast majority that is illegal.  But most of that stuff you probably won't find on ebay.

Just something to think about with this question, from around 300 C.E. how much of Rome was actually Roman?
