A huge number of Germans in the hundreds of thousands to a million or more were POWs in Western Europe through the winter of 1945-1946 and beyond. Sources vary that tens of thousands to half a million died that winter. We know the French recruited SS veterans for their Foreign Legion to fight against the commies in Indo-China. High value types like Adolf Galland were held captive until 1947. The USSR did not release survivors until 1955.

I taught in LAUSD from 1967-87 at Fairfax HS on the corner of Fairfax and Melrose, and I was SS Dept Chairman for fifteen of those years. I saw a decline in both the quality of teachers at the high school and preparation of most students by the Elementary and Middle Schools during that time with the exception of motivated AP students. Underachievers and slackers replaced overachievers. I do not have the time and space to tell you all that is and has been wrong with the district in general beginning in the early 1970s.

Have a marketing plan, and if you have what is known as a “platform” so much the better.

Lack of will. Two world wars castrated Europe. Here in the USA, Those too young to remember WWII have no idea what war-weariness is. Try living for a few years with rationing of essentials — butter, coffee, sugar, gas, meat, eggs, etc. plus sons, brothers, lovers, in combat, some killed and maimed. Those who did not serve in the military and have no one they loved serving in Iraq and Afghanistan carried on as if those wars did not exist. And they're war weary?

If you have exhaustedall other possibilities. There are some decent small independents who absorb all costs of publishing and distribution. My three novels have been published by a small indie and I have no complaints.

Perhaps Western and Central Europe will secular enough that when threatened by the sword of Islam, they will convert rather than fight?

It had excellent and silly moments but always better than reality TV, silly sitcoms, and hour cop/lawyer/MD dramas with crappy actors who lack presence and basic diction. Henry VIII not physically accurate but I became used to it after a while.

The Napoleon tale was in a textbook of “short History stories” in elemantery school that included The Man Without a Country and The Queen of Spain has no legs. It has snowed in the Vatican winter of 1955-56 and the Nile ca 820s

Think about Thomas More and Shakespeare sucking up to the Tudors regarding Richard III and two runty princes when Henry VII and VIII slaughtered dozens more who had greater legitimate claims to the throne.

Too many to list but:Last Ice Age was 40,000 years ago.Germany alone was responsible for causing WWI.The Soviet Constitution of 1936 gave the USSR the same rights as Americans (WWII propaganda textbook).Napoleon was a meanie — as a boy he put rocks in his snowballs.
