Immigrants of my grandparents' generation had better critical thinking than college grads today. Anecdotes regarding Obama voters are depressing. They run the gamut from “Nice guy Obama and Romney doesn't care about people like me” to Romney has more money than I will ever earn and doesn't deserve it.” Eyes glaze when I bring up the economy and Benghazi. The left tape essentially is a mix of malicious envy and wishful thinking.

The social revolution that began in the 1960s is almost completed plus the feminization of the country. Also no draft since 1973, which means, excluding volunteers, those about 58-60 and younger never had to serve.

No different from “inflation” stats that leave out food and fuel rising costs.

It seems Michigan, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania may be in reach for Romney. We voted two weeks ago in Florida, which should go Romney.

A narcissist, a bloviating clown, and a wannabe Evita in charge of our country. This election should not even be close.

I had not not been aware of the terminology “TransAtlantic accent” back then. But we were aware of the “Ivy” Louis Nye/Gordon Hathaway phrasing (Steve Allen Show is the context.).

One can approach a cultured British accent without forcing it by doing what most Americans do not:1. Open the mouth wider to pronounce words2. Speak through the diaphragm not through nose or throat.

Regarding the Brit accent, back in 1960 when I moved to Hollywood for no fame and little fortune, the word was — if one spoke with a British accent (usually a female secretary or male clothier), the question would be: “Are you from England or merely affected?”

The Folio Society published The Prince and Discourses with an introduction by Benito Mussolini. Also, no joke, in some parts of the USA depending upon the distributor, one can purchase a Chianti Reserva — Chianti Machiavelli from his original vineyards. I first tasted it in an Italian restaurant in Kaiserslautern, Germany back in 1955.

I vote for Machiavelli, and if he did not write it, he should have.  ;D

Not my original analogy but –The media is like the referee who blindsides the QB, trips the running back and wide receiver, and calls penalties against one side while ignoring more flagrant dirty plays committed by HIS favored team.

In my opinion, Charlemagne's greatest legacy was the establishment of the Palace Academy under Alcuin and with the help of Irish monks and other men of learning. They brought light to what was thought of as the Dark Ages and began what might have been an earlier renaissance. The select students known as Nutritii, the nourished ones, learned the classic trivium and quadrivium.

Our first Commander in Chief since James Buchanan who went AWOL ( to Las Vegas) in a crisis and who could be charged with dereliction of duty.

As Scout said, plus C's cousin Wala ruled in his name the last few years of his life. The empire was divided among Louis three sons in 817. Then Louis' 2nd wife Judith gave birth to the future Charles the Bald and demanded he be given his portion of the empire. Two rebellions 830 and 833 and wars after Louis' death lead to the 843 Treaty of Verdun.
