Chico here… yes, while SoCal is the land of extremes in many ways my hometown rivals it… illegal to process much less detonate a thermonuclear device (at least w/in the city limits)  :|Oh well… then stuff would glow in the dark; not cool, eh?Cheers,Wally in Chico (where the nuts come from)

All too true… however, many merchants were Jews as well.On then subject of money lending my defense has been if a craftsman loans his tools it isn't bad to collect rent; what is rent on money… interest. Just my $0.02 (no interest )Cheers,Wally

… the Italian Carcano rifle. In my opinion it is a piece of junk.  To accurately hit a moving target with that rifle at any distance would be difficult.  Also, I think Castro was retaliating for the several attempts made on his life by US agents.  I also think Jack Ruby silenced Oswald to prevent him from possibly giving away anyone else who was involved.

I got to shoot one about 25 years ago… not the kind of rifle for that kind of work… it was a pretty good jack handle. I agree with your other points though the thouht that LBJ had something to do with it (also on History Channel) is pretty far out. What about the Vince Foster thing; another bag of cats…. Wally

Ran out the Jews and hobbled the economy; none of the Spanish wanted to do the jobs that a Jew would do… wanted to be landed gentry.Ran out the Moors and wrecked agriculture (who knew more about irrigation and dry land farming than Moors from N Af?); again the landed gentry thing. When you're that pickey about your job you cna't be that pickey about your neighbors.Wally

I have long thought (and taught) that the Am Rev was more evolutionary than revolutionary… the folks that were the movers and shakers before were also the leaders during and after. Not to discount the civil war element and the Tories… had England retained power those same (native) loyalist would have been the ones leading us. Same stuff, different day either way.The Fr Rev was truly revolutionary as it totally destroyed the social structure of France. Without any structure left to draw on the only result possible was the rise of a new figure to make something of the hash-job… enter Napoleon. Another feather in the cap of the French; things are so bad with a King that orders us around and doesn't listen that we revolt. 10 years of chaos and mayhem and we end up with an Emperor that orders us around and doesn't listen. Logical, eh?Glad we won but I'd rather have lost than had the debacle the French manufactured. Wally

Sadly this seems to be the fate of all too many forums these days. W/o constant effort (or the right software) they are easy targets for the spammers and porn linkers. Thanks for the prompt reply and welcome email.Cheers,Wally

Gentlemen,Thank you for the welcome. I have arrived at this site through frustation with another history site that was not very active and seemed to be about to drown in spam. I do not see any signs of either with this forum. I will be watching for a bit before posting much but I'm looking forward to being part of you site.Cheers,Wally
