I saw this photo of Caerlaverock Castle and it looked really beautiful. I read here that the castle was built in Scotland in the late 13th Century and was beseiged by Edward I, who I believe was the saw Edward the Longshenks of Braveheart fame. The castle was built in a unique triangular plan with towers on the three points and surrounded by a primary moat and a smaller secondary moat. You can get a sense of what it must have been like back in the Middle Ages to live in and perhaps even assault such as castle. Not an easy task, I'm sure.
