Wow, this is an interesting story from the BBC:Holocaust survivor lived by NaziHere's a little from the article:
A man who survived the horrors of the Auschwitz concentration camp ended up living next door to a former Nazi camp guard in Arizona, US, it has emerged.
What are the odds of them living in the same community some 60+ years later? You also have to wonder if the guy had been living with guilt and pain from World War II all these years or if he put it behind him. Still, he had a photo of himself in the house with his uniform on. Kind of odd, I suppose.

That should answer your question about whether or not he was living with guilty.
The odds are slim as hell. I don't feel like doing the math, but it is quite extraordinary. What surprises me is that Hartmann would be so brash as to actually have a picture of himself in SS uniform on display. He must have been aware that the OSI was still on the hunt. That speaks volumes about his beliefs. Sounds to me like he was still nostalgic for his days as a Nazi.
