It looks kind of like the University of Munich but I am not sure that is correct. From the Flora I would guess somewhere in Italy or Greece.

Hint: one of you mentioned the correct city.
My 2nd guess would be the National Archives, but I think that's on a corner with a street right in front.

Aetheling is close enough – the Glyptothek is one of the buildings. The area is the Königsplatz in Munich.I took the picture in 2002 when I was there (actually three photos, which I just recently merged using Hugin).
