If Hitler had not done what he did, would we look at this photo differently?
Notice that the Wehrmacht soldiers always render the hand salute and not the Hitler Grüß like all the civilians are doing. It was not until after the failed 20 July assassination attempt that the military was forced to dispense with the traditional hand salute. Excellent set of images.
