So, with Thanksgiving come up, I wanted to ask about the merry band of colonists we celebrate this time of year – the Pilgrims. My cursory knowledge of early- to mid-seventeenth century American colonialism tells me that the Puritans were, in fact, the more prominent religious group to occupy New England, although they don't have a holiday associated with them. What was the religious/political disposition of the Pilgrims, and how did they compare to the Puritans or other colonial groups? What ever happened to their settlement?
